Deep Excavation and Temporary Works at Heathrow

Excavating safely in high groundwater inside a live aircraft hangar

At the British Airways Fleet Support Unit, our team carried out complex excavations as part of a 32-week fuelling and infrastructure upgrade. The works included a below-ground nose pit around 2.5m deep, more than 55 metres of drainage trench, and a significant excavation for a new oil/water interceptor in high groundwater. Each excavation needed carefully planned temporary works and support, all delivered while aircraft continued to move through the other half of the hangar.
